If you are looking to stay at a bed and breakfast in Newcastle, then jump in your car and travel along the Pacific Ocean’s coastline in New South Wales and the town surrounds a large harbor. You can also get there by commercial and recreational sea craft. While there, Nobby’s Lighthouse and the Breakwater are two must see tourist attractions. You will find plenty to see and do here with much of it to do with Australian history.
Some of the most appealing Newcastle accommodation in this area will be the bed and breakfast as there are a variety of ways to experience a b&b with either farm-stays, cottages or traditional and boutique styles.
One boutique style that you might consider if you want a romantic getaway is the Chaucer Palms Bed & Breakfast. They offer an extensive breakfast with everything from fruit to salmon. Also, couples will find that they are ultimately accommodated because everything, including the hot tubs is big enough for two to enjoy together.
Newcastle is also a place for self-catering accommodation depending on what you like. You can find cottages or self-contained chalets that have kitchens and dining rooms that are fully equipped. You can also find accommodation in holiday homes or spend big on luxury villas. No matter what your budget you can find something that is close to home.
Some accommodations like the travel lodges are also good choices for people who just want to have somewhere to sleep and spend most of their time enjoying the scenery. Newcastle Backpackers boasts that they have cheap accommodation in town and they also offer surfing lessons, a free dinner once a week and more.
There are a variety of things to do in the local area that are both breathtaking and fun. Newcastle offers some of the finest entertainment places on the east coast of Australia.
If you like history, you might enjoy a visit to Fort Scratcheley since it was the only installation of the military during WWII that fired guns in anger. They did this because a Japanese submarine came to the surface and shot a few shells at Newcastle; they fought in defense. There is a lot of history that dates back to 1882 when the Fort first opened.
Surfers get a delight out of the annual Surfest. Over 750 surfers from all over the world compete for money and other prizes in a host of events that are sure to get your heart pumping whether you are surfing or one of the spectators.
Some tourists come for the annual King Edward Park Hillclimb. This is an event created by the MG Car club where several different types of cars climb what is considered one of the most challenging of all the hillclimbs in the area. The event is held over a two day period and cars and their drivers compete for lots of prizes.
When you get to Newcastle and stay at one of the Newcastle bed and breakfasts it is great to have somewhere to go back and rest after an exciting day exploring the local attractions.

The New South Wales area is a terrific place to visit a bed and breakfast with all its beaches, country towns and drive roads that are breathtakingly beautiful. This area is full of rich culture and activities.
When you travel there you might want to stay at some of the farm stays or bed and breakfasts that are available in NSW. These give you accommodations that are cozy, homey and a must for anyone new to the area. Many are included in the bush, the outback NSW and include home stays, farmstays, guest houses, cottages and more.
The NSW bed and breakfast can be anything from a room in someones’ home to a state of the art luxury purpose built retreat. The advantage of this type of accommodation is that you get a better idea of what it is like to be in the country as a traveler rather than a tourist. You also will find that there are lots of interesting people who stay in the various b & b options in New South Wales and other areas of Australia.
There is plenty to do in NSW after you have checked into your bed and breakfast accommodation. Dubbo is a nice place to stay because it is a small, friendly town where you will find the Western Plains Zoo which is an open range zoo meaning that animals are allowed to wander in their own habitat like areas. You can tour it on Zoo Buggy, by bicycle, or car.
If you like fun treks, especially those things that are different, you might stay at a bnb in the Blue Mountains and experience a ghost tour. You will have a great time here exploring the legends, myths and various stories about the old buildings, murders and mishap in this region.
Some of the haunting stories you will learn about include Jack the Miner at the Convict Stockades, The Lady in Black who masquerades around Mt Victoria Pass and the cigar room full of ghosts at the Victoria & Albert House.
If you are really adventurous, and as a kid you dreamed about the circus you are in luck, especially if you thought about running away to join it. You can take a friend and actually learn to fly at the Flying Trapeze workshop. This is located in Sydney’s Homebush Bay in New South Wales. You will actually learn a position on the lower practice bar, and then get to try it out on the real flying bar. Great thrills are had by all!
If you are traveling in October, you’ll be there in time for the Griffith Festival of Gardens. This is a time when the small gardens around cottages let you come and peak in at what they are dong. This starts with the main street because it is lined with all types of citrus sculptures. You will also get to take part in activities and a festival dinner dance.
Tumbafest in January is another event that you won’t want to miss. This is an entire weekend of fun, entertainment and a chance to taste lots of different foods and wine. This is always the last weekend in February and provides music and other activities for the entire family.

Depending on when you go, there will be light plays and colorful sunsets. The Minyon Falls gives you a different perspective as you look out over the waterfall and the valley filled with palms. You can do a lot of this through hiking and walking around the area.
Just around the corner is the Crystal Castle where you can walk the Buddha Walk and see the statues, giant crystals, a Rainforest Walk and then stroll into the gift shop. Inside you will find many things to purchase to remind you of your trip.
